PickleWise teaches pickleball like Duolingo and lets you play it like Wii Sports. Short lessons with Dink, a pun-loving pickle, then a real rally game against his rival Eggy the eggplant. Flick your thumb to hit.

Lessons are a few minutes each. Tap the spot on the court, watch a replay and make the call (legal or fault?), then take on an Eggy challenge using the real game controls.
Keep a streak going, earn XP, mind your hearts and hit your daily goal.

Real rules: diagonal serves, the double bounce and the kitchen. Play singles or doubles, Quick (rally scoring) or Classic (side-out, starting 0-0-2), and climb from Easy to Medium to Hard. Pull off the Erne if you dare. There’s a daily challenge and a 30-second tutorial to get you going.
Lose a point and Dink tells you why, so the next one goes better.

The Courts tab finds pickleball courts near you, with directions. Check in when you play a real game and earn bonus XP. Playing for real earns the most.

Pickleball scoring trips up everybody. Set up a game at the park (game to 11, 15 or 21, who serves first) and PickleWise keeps track of the score and server, and calls the score out loud before each serve.
Your coach. A competitive, pun-loving pickle in a red sweatband and sneakers two sizes too big. After every point you lose, he tells you why.
Dink’s rival, an eggplant with a smug serve. Beat him on Easy, then Medium, then Hard.
A gherkin and a radish who show up when it’s time for doubles.
Family Sharing is on, so you can bring your doubles partner.

Yes. The first unit starts with what the lines on the court mean, and every lesson takes a couple of minutes. If you already play, skip ahead to the kitchen, dinks and point strategy, or go straight to Dink vs. Eggy.
Not to use the app. Lessons and the rally game are played on your iPhone screen. Swing mode (part of Pro) lets you swing the phone itself like a paddle, so hold on tight and give yourself room. You’ll want a paddle and a ball once the Courts tab gets you to a real game.
An advanced shot where you move outside the sideline, around the kitchen, and volley the ball from beside the net without touching the non-volley zone. It’s named after Erne Perry. In PickleWise it’s a rare special move, and there’s a lesson challenge that teaches you when it’s legal.
Yes. There’s no account, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Your XP, streaks, lessons and game history stay on your iPhone. Location is used only when you open the Courts tab, to search Apple Maps for courts near you.
